Wasted an hour at the gym and made up for it later

I get to the gym yesterday and start to unpack all the stuff I need, water bottle, HRM chest strap, MP3 player, take off shoes and socks open gym bag and take sneaker outs then NO CLOTHES!!! I forgot to puy my gym clothes in my bag…I knew I picked them up the nite before but I set them down to get my work clothes and never picked them back up.  Of course I wasn’t my anal self and neglected to re-check my bag before going to bed that nite…I SWEAR I PUT THEM IN THERE.  Okay, no gym time for me and DH was down in the Sauna so I sat there watching everyone else for an hour.

But all was not lost…we had wood delivered yesterday and it had to be taken off the trailer and stacked in the garage - 3 CORDS OF WOOD TAKEN OFF THE TRAILER, CARRIED INTO THE GARAGE AND STACKED….YEAH BABY THAT’S MY TYPE OF WOROUT.  We got 2 cord of bigger logs and 1 cord of 1-2 inch diamater littler logs for starter wood…there were a lot the littler logs cuz it takes more to make up the cord.  I had a blast doing it…plugged in my MP3 player and went to town carrying 3-4 big logs at a time like it was nothing   …of what joy physical work like brings me… I sit at a desk all day at work and hate it. I love functional training..was dancing around in between and DH almost peed himself a few times laughing so hard.  The wood was on a hay trailer so when most of the wood was done it became my stage..hey, gotta have some fun while doing this kind of work.

But I do know that 2 years ago I would not have lasted anywhere an hour doing this.  I know this because we did this 2 years ago and I was dying after like 5 or 10 min.  This time is was an hour and DH sent me in the house as it was 10 at nite and I stilll had to get my stuff ready for the next day.

I even used my HRM so in 67 min I burned 244 calories, got in a good full body strength session carrying logs and had fun, fun, fun doing it.

Too bad my camera batteries were dead…I wanted to take a pic for a visual of what this trailer and wood looked like.

Squats, lunges, hills, sprints, rows, biceps, triceps, bench press and so on = OUCH

My friend on another site I post at came up with a Cardio Coach mish mosh workout (for those that don’t what know what Cardio Coach is see my previous blog entitled “Welcome to Cardio Coach Land”) and took challenges from the various volumes and the Pump Circuit and made an approximately 70 mix of cardio and weights.  IT WAS KILLER!!  I couldn’t even complete it…made it 55 minutes and my legs would go no more.  There was lunges, squats, biceps, triceps, push ups (I substituted bench presses cuz I love those), rows, shoulders, abs. (didn’t make it to shoulders and could only muster 10 crunches on the ball). I was so close to finishing…just had abs, a challenge, shoulders and a challenge left. In between weight segments there were sprints and/or hills…had to keep heart rate at 75-85% of your max.  But I loved it…I sat in the recliner with my cushion massager/heat pad on my legs and back for almost an hour and half later that nite…turing the massager off every once in a while but keeping the heat on my back.  I’ve been religiously using my CC worouts for a couple of months now and I can see my cardio fitness improving.  I don’t give up if I can’t finish one of the volumes it just encourages to shoot for a little longer next, tweak your settings to get it done…and when you do finish the whole volume the feelings you feel cannot be described.  I have a renewed confidence in my ability to push myself beyond my comfort zone and it’s with Cardio Coach that I can do this.
