I’m getting addicted to working out again!!!!
Since I’ve be reading Intuitive Eating and gave up the “diet mentality” and eat mindfully and healthfully (is that a word??) at least 90% of everyday if not more I have been able to put more concentration into what I really enjoy doing working out. I absolutely love weightlifting and wish I could it everyday. I love the way my body feels afterwards (even the slight pains the next day). Sunday I did my bench press routine I came up with. I have what I refer to as 3 different grips on the bar - normal, wide and close. The bar itself is probably 10 lbs or more so I add a 5 lb weight on each side and do 15 reps of each grip in a very slow controlled motion, take a very short (15 secs or so) and do another 15 reps of each. I especially like doing the close grip because it targets the triceps real good. After I did those I got my 5 lb dumbbells and did side lat raises and front lat raises, love those too..love everything about weight lifting. Monday we were supposed to go to cardio but my honey had to get his skates sharpened (he had a hockey game at 9) and I decided to take a day off and rest my body. Tuesday we went to the gym and did upper body weight machines - incline chest press, overhead press, lat raise, lat row and lat pulldown (yes, I love to work the lats, I have a very strong upper back). That took about 1/2 an hour because I don’t mess around doing my weights, it’s more like circuit training, very little rest between sets and machines (have I mentioned I LOVE WIEGHT LIFTING).
Instead of doing our cardio at the gym after weights we drove home and I did my walk/jog. Legs hurt a little yesterday doing but I plugged through. Did it in 27 1/2 minutes. It probably would have been the 26 1/2 I did last time but I had to wait for a truck to cross the road and I had to stop walking a couple of times because my HRM would give me a reading (I take it after every jog when I go into a walk and again before I begin the next jog). I must have run faster on my jog part due the song that was playing and didn’t realize it because my HR was up to 89% of max. Okay, must walk a little longer before next jog. Usually by the time I have to go into my walk it’s at 82-86% of max. My body tells me when to go to a walk and I listen to it. My honey’s jaw was bothering him so he just rode is bike around the block twice, hopefully next time he can do it with me I really want to get him jogging.
So, my routine is now MWF, cardio for 45-60 minutes (I like split it between one of the ellipticals, there’s 3 different kinds at the gym, and a walk on the treadmill), T,Th,Sat, weights at the gym and my walk/jog at home (weather pemitting) and Sunday will try to rest. Unless of course for some reason I don’t get Saturday in I will do it on Sunday. I have to start doing more jogging on the treadmill because I can’t do the walk/jog at my house once the weather changes. For one, I’m a baby and hate being in the rain, cold, etc. Also, there are no sidewalks and the roads are very narrow and when it starts to get darker early I can’t be out there in the dark (no street lights way out in the middle of no where). It’s easy to push myself on the road cuz I have to do it to get home so I’m hopeful between now and then it will get easier to jog and I can take it to the treadmill and have an easier time running on the treadmill than I have had.
Oh, can’t wait until tomorrow when I get to lift again (have to talk honey into going by the “big boys” and doing free weights, what an adreneline rush to pump iron!!)
I too love weight lifting! I do it circuit training style also, where I am pretty much constantly working out muscle groups that compliment each other. Keep up all the hard work you’re doing! :o)

workin out is my addiction 2…if i don’t do it i don’t feel rite!!! i’d rather do 15min than notin @ all. keep up the good work!!!
I just found a personal trainer…so I am going to be addicted soon too!
