My walk/jog
Thursday I was sitting on the deck listening my MP3 because I wasn’t hungry yet and everyone else was cramming food down their throats like someone was gonna take it way when I got an urge - to do a walk/jog around the block. I live way out in the hilly country so there is no really flat road, no sidewalks. As a matter of fact my warm up walk and the end of my going around the block are both hills…the first being much smaller than the second. So I put on my gym clothes, got my HRM watch and set off..I think it’s almost 2 miles around the block and the first walk/jog took me 29 minutes (the fastest I’ve walked it is like 36 or 37 minutes). I began with a walk up the small hill and then picked a spot to jog to. I didn’t make it that far so I made by jogs a little shorter and probably walked more than jogged but that was okay with me for the first time. I was excited I was even doing.
Today I went I back and actually cut my time down by 2.5 minutes!!! So I must have been jogging more than walking!!! My body tells me when to go back to a walk and sure enough when I check my HRM it’s about 83-86% of my max so I pick a spot to walk to and then check my heart rate and begin again. I’m hopeful if I can do this everyother day it will improve over time and I can jog further and walk less. It will be hard when we go to the gym this and don’t get home until later. I guess I will have to try to push myself to the same thing on the ‘mill but it’s easier to push myself out on the road cuz if I want to get home I can’t stop.
I love how I feel out there on the road and this is just what I needed to give more confidence that I can jog and it will get better.
You go, girl! That is so awesome!

Big HUGS!
I plan to begin my fitness and nutrition program tomorrow. I also plan to walk/jog. Only thing is I have NEVER jogged or ran a single day in my life. Not even in school. A friend at work, who happens to be larger than I am, keeps trying to push me to try jogging. She was in the military for several years and swears that jogging is an excellent way to lose. She says she can’t jog because of her knees, but insists I give it a try. So my plan-starting tomorrow- is to increase fruit and vegetable intake, lower carb intake, hit the gym for weight lifting on M,W,F, and try to jog T,T,S. Wish me luck.
