Intuitive Eating

I started trying to get back my lean self back about 3 years ago.  First I tried the Six Week Body Makeover, that lasted a whole 2 weeks.  See, I don’t have problem with carbs, fatty fried food, salt etc.  I didn’t like not being able to have my rye bread, a whole egg, vanilla soy milk which I love in cereal, oh yeah cereal too…it was just way to restrictive for me and once we started going to the gym 5 days a week I was famished so that ended that.  I started the calorie counting thing and did good at that and lost roughly 40 lbs in less than a year.  Then everything comes to a stand still.  I just maintained that weight for approximately 1 1/2 years.  It got very frustrating for me, no matter what I tried that stupid number wouldn’t budge and nothing was shrinking on me anymore, just frozen.  I lost my passion for working out, it became a chore so we started barely going.  Sometime during February and April of this year I put 15 lbs. back on.  Started back on the calorie counting thing all over again.  Lost a few but then it would go right back up a few.  Started getting frustrated again.  I hated that I was not eating things I truly enjoyed because they were considered “bad food” even though when I did have them I didn’t overeat.

About a month ago I stumbled upon a book called “Intuitive Eating”.  I got it for my birthday this month and it is the most interesting book I have ever read.  It’s not a diet book, it’s an anti-diet book with 10 principals that you learned overtime, your time, however much time it takes you to work your way through each one.  They are:

1. Reject the Diet Mentality
2. Honor Your Hunger
3. Make Peace with Food
4. Challenge the Food Police .
 5. Respect Your Fullness
6. Discover the Satisfaction Factor
7. Honor Your Feelings Without Using Food .
 8. Respect Your Body
9. Exercise–Feel the Difference
10 Honor Your Health

Should anyone that may read this be interested in seeing the explaination of the 10 principals they can be found at

Since starting to read this book I have come to love working out again and enjoying food that has been “off limits” because the “rules” say it’s “no allowed”.  There is no more guilt if I eat a donut or 2 pieces of pizza for dinner.  I honor my hunger and follow the 10 principals.

Thanks you for taking the time to read this.

I believe in the principles BUT I BELIEVE I NEED to give the book a go. I am still holding on to the negative when what I really need to do is give peace a chance and give negativity the boot!!!

Thank you Ms. Intuitive. Have a great night/day!
